
The badge shows the “Saxon Steed” on top with below that the "Black Duke" of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, Friedrich Wilhelm (1771–1815) that lost his life in the Battle of Quatre Bras.The badge was established and awarded on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Brunswick Hussars /„Schwarze Schar“. Frederick William assembled the 2,300-strong "Black Troop" by April 1, 1809. Later in the 18th century, The Brunswick units were integrated into the Prussian Army in 1866 with the titles: Brunswick IR 92 and Brunswick IR 17. On the bottom there is a skull present and the gilded anniversary date of this regiment that exists 100 years "1809-1909". Made by Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen.
