Designed to replace the M1907 Artillery Bolo, the Machete Bayoneta Modelo 1941 retained the same blade profile and heavy crossguard, features intended to assist with cutting vegetation. However, short bolo-style knives like this proved to be highly inefficient tools for such tasks and were widely disliked by the Spanish soldiers who were required to use them.
This bayonet is manufactured by Fábrica de Armas de Toledo (Toledo Arms Factory), and the grip is made of wood. This particular example is from World War II. Marked on the ricasso with the Toledo etching and with serial number 1628S. It is marked "u" on the cross-guard. The scabbard has no markings, but is in similar condition as the blade. The grip has alot of oily residue on it. Although not in the best condition, it remains completely original.
