K98 Bayonet, Seitengewehr 84/98. This piece was found around 1946 in a barn in the village of Beusichem near the Betuwe and river Lek. Bought directly from the Dutch family that had this bayonet since it was discovered. A paper transcript that tells the late war story and liberation from that particular area. On the back side of this paper are some personal details that are not for public view. Very likely from the 361st Volksgrenadier Division that was active in this region under the command of Alfred Philippi.
The bayonet is made by E. & F. Horster & Co, Solingen in 1944 with markings 44ASW & 9467g. The scabbard has the same patina and wear as the bayonet, but is made by Paul Weyersberg & Co in 1944 with markings 9063 & 44CRS. Together since the war and libaration of the Netherlands. Nice piece with solid provenance!
